Drill Team

The Mildred Hunter Center Drill Team teaches discipline, builds self-esteem, and motivates young men while teaching them military commands in an ROTC-style setting. Participants perform at a variety of events, including programs at the Mildred Hunter Community Center as well as at local parades.

Young Ladies Circle of Ambition

VLPRA offers the Young Ladies Circle of Ambition mentoring program at the Mildred Hunter Community Center. It provides guidance in group sessions. Participants will benefit from educational workshops and guest speakers that encourage productive lifestyles for at-risk youth. The program will start meeting again on the third Saturday of each month from April 2019 to August 2019 at the MHCC. The sessions run from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and are for girls 7-15 years old. Intervention Guidance Mentoring Program

This program helps young men ages 11-18 deal with life, goals, conflict, and character while encouraging them to become model citizens through group sessions. The program will start up again in April 2019 and run through August 2019. They are held every Wednesday from 4:45 PM - 5:45 PM. No registration is required and the program is free of charge.
