Get your tackle box ready for the VLPRA & Moody AFB Youth Fishing Rodeo at Grassy Pond! The rodeo age groups are: 5-9 year olds, 10-14 year olds, and 15-18 year olds. There's prizes for most fish and biggest fish in each age group. Fish from the bank or from your own boat (launch fee may apply). Ages 16+ must have valid Georgia fishing license (cannot be purchased on site). Go to our main page, click "Register online" and click the "Special Event" tab on the left side of the page to register.

Dixie Cream Donut Dash
Saturday, October 1st at North Lowndes Park
Grab your bike and your appetite for a bike ride that will have you eating and cycling. Choose from one of four races based on level of cycling experience.
DONUT HOLE SPRING: a 15-mile ride
DONUT DASH: a 30-mile ride
UNFROSTED DASH: a 63-mile metric century ride
ULTIMATE GLAZE: a 100-mile century ride
Participants get lunch, stocked rest stops, and t-shirts while supplies last. Only $30 for advance registration and $40 on race day! Check-in starts at 7:00 AM, rides start at 8:15 AM.

Fido at Freedom 5K and Play Day
Saturday October 8th at Freedom Park Dog Park
Start the morning off with the BARC Crate Escape 5K at 9:00 AM. It’s $25 per person and dogs are welcome on the gravel and grass route. At the same time, VLPRA will have free activities from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM for dogs and their owners. VLPRA will have a peanut butter KONG lick-off contest, a doggie photo booth, and more. Plus, local adoption agencies will be there with pups looking for their forever homes. Be sure to come early for “Yappy Hour”: there will be free giveaways from 10:00-11:00AM including bandanas and doggie biscuits! Fido at Freedom is completely free, with no registration necessary. Leash up and let loose with VLPRA on Saturday, October 8th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. To sign up for the 5K, head over to www.active.com and search “BARC”.

Father Son Campout
Friday, October 21st
Kids can go camping in the outfield and make s’mores on the pitcher’s mound in the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority’s “Father-Son Campout”. The overnight event is happening on Friday, October 21st at the South Lowndes Recreation Center.
The campout is open to boys ages four and up. A male family member such as a father, grandfather, or uncle who is at least 18 years old must accompany each child. The dads and sons will enjoy a cookout, games, s’mores, a game of night baseball under the lights, and a movie on the backstop in this baseball-themed campout. Participants should plan to bring their own tent to 6440 Ocean Avenue in Lake Park. Tent set up starts at 6:00 PM Friday. Dads and sons can register at www.vlpra.com and must sign up by Friday, October 17th. The registration fee is $35 total for both father and son. (Only one registration is required). Free Fall Festival & Movie in the Park
October 22nd at North Lowndes Park
VLPRA and the Hahira Merchants Association are partnering up to present a free Fall Festival and Movie in the Park in Hahira! Kids, wear your costumes and be ready to trick or treat! We will have games, sack races, pumpkin bowling, and plenty of CANDY! Then bring out a blanket and some chairs to enjoy a free showing of "Hotel Transylvania 2" on our massive inflatable screen! It's all free and open to the public.

Kids Night Out
Monday, October 24th at the Mildred Hunter Community Center
Bounce houses, games, and lots of candy will be ready and waiting for kids at the Mildred Hunter Community Center Monday night at VLPRA’s annual “Kids Night Out”. The fall festival is completely free and features a wide array of activities. There will be face-painting and a nail painting station, cartoon characters, games, and barbers will be available to give trims.
Kids Night Out runs from 4:30-7:30 PM and no registration is required. For more information, visit VLPRA’s website at www.vlpra.com or contact the Mildred Hunter Community Center at 229-259-5407.

Stocked Cart Race
November 12th at the Hobby Lobby Parking Lot
This event combines "Supermarket Sweep" with a food drive. There is no entry fee. Instead, teams must bring $25 worth of non-perishable food (no cans please) to the event. No money will be accepted! Each team is then given a shopping cart and time to decorate that cart in the team's theme of choice. Then teams are matched up in head to head drag races at the "Hobby Lobby Motorless Speedway"! Team members push the carts and run down the drag strip until we have a winner. Prizes for Most Food Raised, Best Decorated Cart and Fastest Cart. All food goes to "Hungry at Home", a local charity that provides snacks and meals to children who may not have enough to eat on the weekends. Please only bring food that kids can prepare themselves, like granola bars, peanut butter, juice boxes, and ready to mix tuna packets. Register online starting October 3rd. Day of registrations will be accepted. Companies are encouraged to enter teams.
