Mildred Hunter Center Mission Statement
To provide quality recreation programs
and services for all community center
participants including senior citizens,
youth, teens, and adults.
Hours of Operation: M-Thurs 9:00-6:00,
Fri 9:00-5:00, Sat 10:00-2:00
A facility constructed and owned by the
City of Valdosta and operated with funding from the Lowndes County
Board of Commissioners. Dedicated on June 29, 2002. A joint effort of
the City of Valdosta Mayor and Council and the Lowndes County Board of
Commissioners. Funded by the 1997 Special Purpose Local Option Sales
Tax and the State of Georgia through a Community Block Development
Grant from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks
and Recreation Authority is pleased to announce various volunteer
opportunities. Currently, the parks and recreation department is
recruiting coaches for Youth Basketball and Youth Football for the
Mildred Hunter Community Center. We are also recruiting volunteers for
all programs and services offered by the department. All volunteers
will have to undergo a criminal background check and motor vehicle
record check which will be paid for by the authority.If you would like
to volunteer for one of our programs or services, applications can be
downloaded from the Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation
Authority’s website, or picked up from the administration office. All
completed forms will need to be returned to 1901 North Forrest Street,
Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Forms can also be
mailed to Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority;
