Marching Pride Drill Team The Valdosta Lowndes Parks & Recreation Authority is offering a program at Mildred Hunter Community Center. This is a mentoring program for young men in the City of Valdosta that helps in building self-esteem, discipline and motivation. This program is called Mildred Hunter Community Center’s Marching Pride Drill Team Program and it starts August 15, 2011, meets Monday afternoons from 4:00-5:00.
Homework Assistance The Valdosta Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority is offering The Homework Assistance Program at the Mildred Hunter Community Center. This is a tutoring program for the youth in the City of Valdosta that helps in excelling in academics. This program starts 1/6/11, meets Monday-Thursday afternoons from 3:00-5:45 and Friday afternoons from 3:00-4:45.
Youth Remote Control Car Club The Valdosta Lowndes Parks & Recreation Authority is offering a program at Mildred Hunter Community Center. This is a mentoring program for young men that builds character and self-esteem and welcomes all youth to learn about remote control car racing. This program is called Mildred Hunter Community Center’s Remote Control Car Club and it starts August 17, 2011, meets Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30.
Literacy Program The Valdosta Lowndes Parks & Recreation Authority is offering a program at Mildred Hunter Community Center. This is a learning program designed to help children ages 5-9 with basic reading skills and fundamentals. This program is called Literacy Program and it starts August 25, 2011, meets Thursday evenings from 6:00-6:45.
African Culture & Dance Class The Valdosta Lowndes Parks & Recreation Authority is offering a program at Mildred Hunter Community Center. This is a learning program taught by Iye Kargbo designed to teach about the African culture and show different styles in dance to children ages 5-12. This program is called African Culture & Dance Class and it starts 1/24/11, meets Tuesday evenings from 6:00-6:45.
Phazes Modeling Troupe The Valdosta Lowndes Parks & Recreation Authority is offering a program at Mildred Hunter Community Center. This is a posing program for teenagers in middle school and high school designed to show basic modeling skills. This program is called Phazes Modeling Troupe and it starts September 8, 2011, meets Thursday evenings from 6:45-8:00 & Saturday mornings from 11:30-12:30p. .
Young Ladies’ Circle of Ambitions The Valdosta Lowndes Parks & Recreation Authority is offering a program at Mildred Hunter Community Center. This program provides guidance, mentors, and cultivates young ladies into successful women. The young ladies will participate in group mentoring that will include guest speakers, workshops that are educational, and community service that promotes healthy living and productive lifestyles. Program meets twice a month, starting Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 11am-12pm.
Intervention Guidance Mentoring Program The Valdosta Lowndes Parks & Recreation Authority is offering a program at Mildred Hunter Community Center. This is a mentoring program for youth and teenagers ages 11-18 to help in dealing with life, goals, conflict, and character to become model citizens. This program starts on August 29, 2011; it is called Intervention Guidance Mentoring Program and it meets on the first and last Monday of each month from 5-6pm.
